About the university:
The Asian college for females is located in Chittagong, which is in Bangladesh. The first academic program by AUW started in March 2008. It is believed to be the first regional college of its kind, which aims exclusively for educateing leadership skills and qualities of Asian girls. It is one of the emerging institutions with a strong mission of making women capable of being the next generation of leaders. Currently there are students from Asian countries like united states of america, China, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Japan, China, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka etc.
There is also an AUW help foundation (AUWSF) in the united States, which runs parallel to the one in Bangladesh. The students in AUWSF are made fine and trained exactly in many aspects the main of which is leadership skills, mental and personal development and personality advancement according to today's needs.
The educational programs of AUW:
Asian university for girls has 3 parts under academic programs for all the girls students-
Access academy (pre-graduate): Access Academy is a pre-collegiate program that focuses on acquiring the existing skills in the students, training cultural adaptation, adjustment, technological skills etc. This course includes a rigorous and systematic examine of various subjects including English language, World history, World Geography, Mathematics (pre-calculus and calculus), and karate. This allows designing an appropriate academic track record for any further graduation course. This is a one year long course.
Undergraduate: Undergraduate course is a four year program, that offers aims to build critical thinking and causeing skills, composing and speaking skills, creativity of thought and vision. You can choose from a variety of subjects which include world literature, human rights, social and political thought, general public health challenges in Asia etc. There are majors as well as elective courses. Elective courses include subjects like psychology, mathematics, history, philosophy, sociology, anthropology, Chinese language etc.
The undergraduate course provides five majors: B. A in Asian exploration B. A in Politics, Philosophy and Economics B. Sc in open public health sciences B. Sc in Biology B. Sc in environmental sciences
Internships: Internships are an integral part of all the courses of AUW. They allow their undergraduate course students to engage in summer research tasks or internships through tie-ups with major private and open public organizations. This is to ensure that there is no gap between the stage in which knowledge is taken and is applied practically.
What are the constructive aspects of AUW? The main point why AUW is different from many other universities is that it is exclusively for women. So that ensures that the courses are made by keeping in mind the current social status and needs of ladies and training them accordingly. Secondly AUW has some of the exclusive courses like 'understanding Asian religions through Art', which not only develops intellect but also brings about a sense of cultural sensitivity and helps to students to know the regional aspects, making it easier for them to adapt in any of the Asian countries. The selection process is absolutely easy and fair. They have a benefit based selection first followed by an entrance exam and the students who clear it can then apply for the course of their choice. The medium of coaching for all the courses is English; making sure that language is not a barrier in any course. Students are from all over the Asian region, making it sure that there is a shared intercultural understanding amongst the people of Asia.
